Final appointment

We had our final appointment with the doctor yesterday. Everything went well, and it doesn't appear that Enz will be going into labor anytime before the scheduled surgery date. You never can tell though. At this point in time, we're still playing the waiting game and we can't help but look at the clock. As time continues to tick away, we wonder if we're really ready for what's coming our way..... It'll be interesting to see how things will immediately change once the baby is here, especially since Kenna isn't quite at that 100% independent stage yet. We think she might be too young to do the whole "jealousy" thing, but you never know, only time will tell.

Final Countdown...

Wow, we're really down to the wire now. A week from today, Enz is scheduled for a c-section and our baby boy will be here with us! Getting up to this point, the time moved quickly, and now that we're down to the final week, it seems as if time has all but stopped. At home, we're getting overly anxious, and there's only so much we can do to prepare for our new arrival.

Enz, being the trooper that she is, hasn't let up one bit. You would think that she's only in the middle of the pregnancy by the way she just keeps moving. At night, though, she gets tired early, and all of her constant motion catches up with her. Don't get me wrong, she's more than ready to deliver this baby, we're just playing the waiting game until next week.

One interesting fact that was brought to my attention, is Chinese New Year. For those who have followed this blog, you may remember that Makenna was born during the Year of the Golden Pig, an occurrence that takes place once every 60 years. Being born under that sign is supposed to bring you good fortune, and Makenna has done just that! The next Chinese New Year begins at the end of next week. Now, I may be pushing it a little, but since Baby Coconut is scheduled to grace us with his presence on the 5th, or sooner if it's in the cards, then that means we'll have TWO children born under the Golden Pig sign. How fortunate is that! Neither Enza or myself believe that we'll hit the lottery because of this, but we both look at it on a much more spiritual level. To us, the great fortune is being given the opportunity to have such a wonderful family, blessed with wonderful children!

Happy Friday!

Happy Friday!! Although its been raining for the past few days, the weather hasn't brought out little one down. She's finally over her last cold and has been chattier than ever! Maybe its because she knows a big change is coming really soon, 10 days to be exact. Whatever the reason is, she sure does know how to brighten up a room with her smile! Happy Friday & have a great weekend!

Hump Day

Its been a long time coming, but I was finally able to catch Kenna doing her "touchdown" pose! Since we've been deep in football season, I thought that it would only be natural to teach her this gesture. She learned it rather quickly, although there's really not much to it. The tricky part was getting her to do it for the camera. She had no problems showing it off in front of anyone, but once the camera came out, its like she suddenly developed amnesia. Go figure! Yes, she is wearing a Dolphins bib, and sure, they did finish an abysmal 1-15, but it went hand-in-hand with the touchdown gesture. Happy Hump Day!

*yawn* it must be nap time!

Jammin' with her walker

Makenna received a walker for Christmas and since she's been cruising along, we thought it would be fun to see how she would do using the walker with the brake off. She did better than we expected, and even got a little "cocky" by waving her hand as if to show that "she's got it under control!" There are times when she'll be pushing the walker faster than she can walk, so she'll drop down to her knees in an effort to slow down. But then rather than getting back up, she'll just push the walker on her knees. Here's a short video of Makenna as she practices the art of assisted walking. Enjoy!

Happy Friday!!!

One of Makenna's favorite toys is her Elmo with the Singing Pizza. It can be annoying at times, and we know who to thank for that, but she enjoys rocking out to it when she gets bored while eating. Here's a short video of Makenna in sort of a trance as Elmo sings the pizza song. You can see how she maintains her focus on her buddy Elmo! Happy Friday & have a great weekend!

Musically Inclined

From the time Makenna was still in Mommy's belly (it wasn't too long ago), she always seemed to react to music. Whether it was a cd playing in the stereo, or when Enz was driving to work, Kenna would kick and move, as if to the beat. Since she's really into Barney & her Baby Einstein dvd's, its only obvious that she gets a kick out of the music and songs on her shows.

To further add to her love of music, she received a lot of musical toys on her first Christmas. I think the little piano is her favorite, with her drum coming in a near second. Whenever she plays with one or the other, it almost seems as if she's playing with such a great passion and love for the "music" she's making. Then again, its almost like any other kid, making noise & enjoying it! Nonetheless, we always try to join her as the Camero Family Band. I especially get a kick out of the piano and find myself using it more than Kenna! HA! I took piano lessons as a kid, but that was for a brief minute, so I'm kicking myself for not having the discipline to stick with it.
If Kenna keeps on this path with her love of music, we'll definitely look into putting her in some lessons, depending on what she likes best. Only time will tell...

On another note, Enza started her weekly appointments yesterday, and everything was normal. Baby Coconut has yet to start to drop, although Enz has felt a bit of relief as her heartburn has let up this past week. We're really in the final stretch now, and the doctor noticed my "nervous laugh" yesterday. Hehehehe, who can blame me? Our world is about to be turned upside down for the second time.... Anyway, all is well with Coconut, so we'll keep everyone posted if anything changes.

Amazing little Kenna

Well, as the time ticks away, we're really starting to come to the realization that things will never be the same (in a good way of course). We're already half-way through the month of January, and it feels like we still have a ton of stuff to do before the arrival of Kenna's little brother. This past weekend we were able to move everything out of the office and set up the crib in the new baby's room. We also bought some furniture, but now its just a matter of setting it up in the room. Kenna appeared to be in shock when she saw the crib in the other room. Its obvious she doesn't quite know what's going on, but it'll be interesting to see how things change with her once she figures out that she's not the only baby in the house...

As of late, Makenna's been doing her thing, making us laugh and amazing us every now and then. Last night, while watching her favorite Barney episode, we noticed that she was making repeated attempts at standing on her own. It looked inadvertent, so I helped her out, and when she wasn't paying attention, I let her go. She stood up on her own for a good minute, before she lost balance and landed on her butt. I kept pushing her to continue, and was able to feel her legs quivering while she maintained her balance. She got tired, maybe because it was right around her bedtime, but we'll continue to help her out some more. Those first steps are just around the corner, we can feel it. We don't want to push too much, but at the same time, it'll be fun to see her up on her own two feet!

Happy Friday!

It must be a kid thing, but Makenna is really into phones. Whenever she sees either one of us on the phone, she does her best to snatch it out of our hands. Enz got her a toy cell phone which she played with for a minute, and then let us know that she preferred the real thing. I was able to dig up one of my old phones for her, and now she loves the thing! Its fun to watch her attempt to mimic us and how we hold the phone. We're now just waiting for her to start talking, and then the worry will set in that she'll use all of our minutes.... Happy Friday!

Exercise your teeth...

I guess it's safe to say that little Kenna is finally back to normal. We can totally see it in her character when she's out in public. Yesterday, Enz had the first of her weekly appointments for this final month, and we ended up taking Kenna with us. The waiting room at the clinic was unusually full, but we were able to find seating. Normally it would take Kenna a few minutes to size everyone up before letting her personality shine, but not this day. You would think she was Miss America by the way she was waving to everyone and flashing her toothy little smile! And yes, she's gotten a couple more teeth coming in, as you can see in the picture.

Speaking of teeth, along with her chompers comes the impulse to put them to the test. As of late, she's been "testing" her new teeth by biting on things, from the ottoman to Enza's fingers, she's having a blast! She hasn't tried her teeth out on me just yet, but that probably because she's in her "mama" stage. She hasn't been all too fond of hanging out with Daddy, unless I make her laugh first. I'm sure this phase will pass, or it could continue, especially with the arrival of her baby brother. This should be an interesting new page in the Camero book!

Feeling better

Well, we've gotten past the hump with Kenna being sick now. She's almost back to her normally hyper & chipper self. She's gotten over the "I just want to be held" phase and is back to her "let me do it myself" phase. Its great to see her energy levels up, and the whining down! Here's a short video clip of Makenna as she shows us that she's pretty close to 100%. Enjoy!

Lagging in the new year...

So its well into the new year already, and judging by the date of the last post, we have yet to update for 2008. It's almost as if we've already failed at maintaining a New Year's resolution or something. Of course that would be true if keeping this blog current was one of our resolutions, but since its not, then we're off the hook for that =)

This first week of 2008 has already been new to us. Right before we rang in the new year, little Kenna came down with a cold, which set us back a bit. The cold developed into some minor wheezing in the chest, which the doctor diagnosed as a slight case of asthma, and an ear infection in her left ear. Not necessarily a milestone to jot down in Kenna's calendar, but this was probably the worst she's been in her 10 months. She hadn't been sleeping or eating regularly, which threw off our schedules as well (which can be attributed to why this blog hasn't been updated in a week). Nevertheless, the doctor prescribed the little one with meds to help counter her ailments. After a day of the meds, Kenna is on the road to recovery, of course getting Daddy sick in the process =(

Mommy has been hanging in there like a trooper, and hopefully this bug passes her by, especially with Baby Coconut's due date rapidly approaching. At press time, we are only a month away, February 5 to be exact. I still think he'll arrive early, so we'll see. We're also in the process of getting the new baby room ready, but much like other stuff this year, we're lagging on that. Once I get over this bug, I'll have the energy and motivation to get things done. For now, its all about resting and getting prepared for "the unknown." I mean, sure, we've been through it before, but not with a toddler in tow. Let's see how things pan out for us in these next coming months. I'm sure we'll be hitting all of you up for some kind of help, one way or another =)
